Mini LED technology is a new display technology. In addition to being used on TVs, Mini LED technology may also appear on smart devices such as tablets, mobile phones, and watches in the future. Therefore, this new technology is worthy of attention.

Mini LED technology can be regarded as an upgraded version of the traditional LCD screen, which can effectively improve the contrast and enhance the image performance. Unlike OLED self-luminous screens, Mini LED technology requires LED backlight as support to display images.

Traditional LCD screens will be equipped with LED backlights, but ordinary LCD screen backlights often only support unified adjustment and cannot individually adjust the brightness of a certain area. Even if a small number of LCD screens support backlight partition adjustment, the number of backlight partitions has great limitations.

Unlike traditional LCD screen backlighting, Mini LED technology can make LED backlight beads very small, so that more backlight beads can be integrated on the same screen, thereby dividing it into more fine backlight zones. It is also an important difference between Mini LED technology and traditional LCD screens.

However, there is currently no clear official definition of Mini LED technology. The data generally show that the size of the backlight beads of Mini LED display technology is about 50 microns to 200 microns, which is much smaller than traditional LED backlight beads. According to this standard, a TV can integrate a large number of backlight beads, and it can easily create a lot of backlight partitions. The more backlight partitions, the finer regional lighting adjustment can be achieved.

Advantages of Mini LED Technology

With the support of Mini LED technology, the screen has multiple backlight partitions, which can individually control the brightness of a small area of ​​the screen, so that the bright place is bright enough and the dark place is dark, and the picture performance is less limited. When a certain part of the screen needs to be displayed in black, the small backlight subarea of ​​this part can be dimmed, or even turned off, to obtain a purer black and greatly improve the contrast, which is impossible for ordinary LCD screens. With the support of Mini LED technology, it can have a contrast close to that of an OLED screen.

Screens using Mini LED technology also have the advantages of long life, not easy to burn, and the cost will be lower than OLED screens after mass production. Of course, Mini LED technology also has shortcomings, because it integrates more backlight beads, the thickness is not easy to be thin, and the accumulation of multiple backlight beads is also prone to generate more heat, which requires higher heat dissipation of the device.
